Psst! Get out of debt! (No, I am not selling anything).
0) Make a budget and stick to it
1) Spend less than you earn
2) Keep doing number 1
3) Order your debts, largest to smallest. Pay minimums on all but smallest. Pay off smallest ASAP, then work on next lowest bill.
4) Don't lease a personal car.
5) Tithe. (I'm serious. And take the tax break!)
6) Pay yourself savings! a small percentage at first. (I shouldn't offer names, but I've been happy with ING Direct's return.)
7) Cut up and don't use credit cards. (Or, make sure you pay your bill in full each month.) Cancel any cards you've fully paid.
8) Talk to your creditors and try to consolidate your bills under a lower interest rate.
9) Don't use the checks your credit card company sends you.
10) Don't refinance your home to pay off debt and still rack up more credit card debt.
11) Remember: Each monthly payment that you make detracts from your discretionary income. Each time you pay off a debt, apply that monthly payment amount to the next debt. When you're down to no more debts except mortgage, put your old monthly debt payments into your short term savings and retirement plan. Don't spend it!
12) Don't take out a loan on something that will lose value! Stick your planned monthly payment for a car into a separate savings account. You will find that paying cash for a car is rewarding.
13) Deliver Pizzas. Get family involved, especially spouse. Work together to make sure that the goal is to Get out of Debt.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a CPA or CFP. Specifically, I am not your financial advisor. These methods, however, are tried and true and will work if you stick to them.
This page was conceived with love via Corel WordPerfect 8 and is currently being
modified via VIM. I'm really liking VIM over Notepad. The thing with VIM is that
it has most of what I want in an editor. It has markup language colorings, great
search/replace capabilities, and all the merger between Unix and Notepad one could
ask... Want to use cut/paste and mouse? Fine. Want to use yank and put? fine.
It's fast, and doesn't kill my memory like some other programs.
I just wanted to add that I'm also using HTML-Kit extensively. You just don't know
what an editor can do for you until you've seen this! (Now, I'me a hard core command
line junkie. Don't expect FrontPage WYSIWYG.)
Psst! How did I make my traffic? Me? On just a small web page? I used Traffic Swarm. Hey, if I can generate clicks to just a small personal site, what could you do if you actually had content?
